Their Art, Their Stories: Kids Art Privacy Comes First

Your child hands you a drawing and says: "Send it to Grandpa".

A grandparent at home looking at a child’s colorful drawing in the pixyit app on his phone.

You want to share that little moment. Maybe with grandparents, a few friends or a wider community. You also want to know which details you're sharing and what stays private.

We're parents too, and we think about this every day. Children's creations hold so much of who they are: their ideas, their handwriting and the stories they tell while making them. We built pixyit to help families enjoy those moments, with kids art privacy in mind from the start.

One place for the picture and its story

Take a photo of what your child made, and let them tell you about it in their own voice. pixyit keeps the two together, so the drawing never loses the reason behind it.

When Zachary was 10, he made Billie Eyelash. "A flight attendant gave me a pin and I loved it so I made Billie Eyelash." The picture is fun. The story is what his grandparents remember. (We wrote more about why the voice matters in The Story Needed a Play Button.)

You choose what to share

Every creation starts private. Nothing goes anywhere until you decide.

  • Share with family and friends, whether they live down the street or across the world.

  • If your child's school or program uses pixyit, their galleries start private too. The school or program decides what to show publicly, and only with families' permission. They can also let you claim your child's pieces, so they appear in your own family gallery.

  • Want to share more widely? You can show a piece publicly. It shows only a display name, the age it was made, a title, a description and an optional country flag.

Some things stay private

  • Voice recordings stay with the account that recorded them, even when you share the artwork.

  • We never show last names, schools, locations or contact details.

  • We never sell kids' data, and we never use their creations or voices to train AI.

These aren't settings you have to go looking for. They're how pixyit works.

Something they made, something you'll remember

One day the fridge will be clear and the drawings will be packed away. The card they made for Grandma's birthday. The first picture they signed with their whole name. With pixyit, they're still there, each one with your child's own voice telling you what it meant.

When family wants something to hold, they can order a keepsake made from your child's creation. 3% grows your child's piggy bank, and pixyit donates 5% of the order to a youth nonprofit.

Kids art privacy: questions parents ask

Who can see my child's creations on pixyit?

Only the people you choose. Every creation starts private, and nothing is public unless you decide it is.

If I share a drawing, does the voice recording go with it?

No. Voice recordings stay with the account that recorded them, even when you share the artwork.
